1. SHORT COURSE OF THE PERFORMANCE BASE SEISMIC DESIGN (PBSD)

This course covers detailed information on a reinforced concrete building design using a performance-based seismic design (PBSD) approach.  It will include hands-on experience in the application of PBSD on several building projects in the earthquake-prone area.  This course will go over the concept of PBSD, its development and key aspects of the general approach. It will continue with an overview of the latest PBSD guidelines currently used and a brief review of current code requirements and how they differ from the PBSD approach. 2. SHORT COURSE OF GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING AND DESIGN

Most of the civil engineers including designer or decision makers involved in construction projects require a working understanding of soil behavior under various loading and environmental conditions. This course provides an opportunity to understand the basic concepts of geotechnical engineering used in a variety of applications so that participants can understand in dealing with subsoil related problems that they face on engineering projects. The course will focus on both fundamental concepts of soil mechanics as well as applications of those concepts in the design of geotechnical structures such as foundations, embankments, excavations, and retaining walls. All key concepts and applications will be explained and emphasis will be placed on the practical application of the information provided. We will also provide a certificate to verify that you have completed the short course. The detail information of the short course will be announced later
